A lot of people have come into town recently. This is pretty odd, considering they usually trickle in instead of coming in so close together... it makes me wonder what are captors are up to.

At any rate, ah, to all the new people out there? My name is Crowe, and if you need any help, let me know. I've been here a long time now, so I can fill you in on any details if you like. There's also a pamphlet available if you haven't seen it. I know some others have been handing them out, and I've been leaving them in mailboxes as well. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. It's fair that everyone who comes into this town knows what they've been brought into. Valentine's Day is coming up next month, and ah, things tend to get a bit ugly around holidays here. Don't trust anything the town just drops off in your house overnight, alright?

Ah, Mr. Holmes? I've finished up that copy of the journal I was talking about. If you want, I can just leave it in your mailbox as well. Whatever is convenient for you.

Ah. Um. I-I was wondering if you'd like to do something this weekend. It's my birthday this weekend, you see, and... well I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but it would be nice to, um, maybe do dinner or the movies or something?

[Action! Crowe will be found at the park today, despite the snow and cold, as he hates being inside so much. He'll be out today practicing the tae kwon do he's been learning from Taiwan in a clearing he's made in the snow. He's still new at it, but he's in good shape and a dedicated student, so he's doing pretty well. Care to interrupt/say hi/challenge?]

Ah, well, that's how things go in Mayfield. You're set up with a fake family that the town assumes you've had all your life.

I would be glad to give you one. Should I drop it off at your house, or would you like to meet somewhere?

"I really don't know anywhere to meet. Do you know anywhere which has food that isn't terrible?" [her voice is a little hopeful]

Unfortunately there's very few of those. The diner is... alright, if you haven't tried there.

Ah, my name is Crowe, by the way. It's nice to meet you.

"Hirai Yukari. We'll meet there presently, then?"

Sure, not a problem. I'll meet you there. Ah, I'll be the one with the motorcycle, I'll wait by it so you know it's me.

[Once she gets there, he is pretty easy to pick out. The tall teenager with silver and blue hair standing next to a Ducati (http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/PhotoGallerys/2009-Ducati-1198-6.jpg) definitely doesn't fit in with the rest of the 50s motif.]

"Interesting bike. Looks recent." [Shana shrugs briefly, and says] "After you then, I suppose." [Shana is short (4 and a half feet) and has black/brown hair. Shana looks a bit like a doll due to her delicate features and very pale skin.]

Thanks, it's a 2009. The town sent it to me from home after Christmas.

Here you are. This should hopefully clarify a lot of things for you.

[Shana smiles grimly after she reads this.] "You are the most helpful person I have met since I came to this town. Thank you."

Ah, it's not a problem, really. This place is... difficult, it's important for everyone to know what happens here. It's not much fun, I'm afraid.

"My work is never fun. But... I'll need my tools, or something approximating them, if I'm to help here." [she looks into his eyes.] "If you're giving this out, you're against what's happening, aren't you?"

Tools? What kind?

[He nods.] Of course. What this town does to people is just...despicable. I'm sick of everyone being tortured like this. There are some groups here trying to work on plans but... nothing seems to stick. People... people just get droned o-or sent home... [He shakes off his wistful look and tries to put a smile back on.] But, you can never give up hope, right? Otherwise, Mayfield wins.

"Treasure tools, of course. I guess humans would call them magical items or something equally inaccurate. Mostly what I need is a blade, though." [She shrugs.] "I can't give up hope. I have far too much to lose. And I'd betray everything I a... everything I was, if I were to give up just because of what they've done here."

Oh, magical items... Mayfield may return them to you in time. And ah, any powers you may have had too.

Fighting against this town isn't easy. The people who are behind this place... they're very powerful. And things change here so often that it's hard to ever figure out what they're planning.

"Nothing worth doing is ever easy. Do people watch those in charge, to try to figure out what they're planning, or do they just react once they do something?"

A little of everything, I suppose. Some people don't even get involved as they don't want to leave.

"That's terrible. And stupid too. Anyone can see that this world is unbalanced."

Some people here don't have anywhere else to go. They're dead back in their home worlds.

[He looks thoughtful at that. He always thinks back on Mr. Hughes...]

"Something wrong, Silver?"

["Silver?" He runs a hand through his hair, and smiles a little.]

Ah, it's just... a sad thought to me, that people are in such a bad situation that they would rather stay here than go home. Though, I've been here so long now, this place practically is home. If... if we really can't leave here, I'd like for this place to be a decent place for us all to live in, then.

[He unconsciously fiddles with a necklace he's wearing. There's some people he'll have a hard time leaving here anyway.]

"I have to go home. I have my duties." [her face hardens.] "But I can understand you wanting things not to be awful here."

[she is quiet for a bit] "So, what are you doing to make things better?"

I would feel terrible going home, knowing people are still suffering here.

Um. I've been keeping a log of everything that happens here, in case I am sent home. That way, people will have information. I-I've also been taking photos of the people who live here. A photo diary, I guess, to remember everyone who comes and goes. Ah, I uh, broke into city hall with two of my friends as well in the hopes of gaining information, as well.

"And how did that go?"

[He pauses a moment, thinking on how to word it all. He clears his throat.]

Ah, well, it ended poorly, but we expected it. We had managed to find out, however, that the Mayor and Grady aren't working with Lucy, that they're not on the same side. Confirming something like that was big news to us, so I was glad that we could at least get that much information.

"That's actually an exceptionally useful piece of information. Which of these two factions can be talked to with less danger? It might be wise to try to manipulate them to play off against another, while whoever is trying to leave puts into motion a more active plan to set things right."

[she looks down at her chest, as though expecting confirmation from someone, or something, then looks back to Crowe when nothing results, a little bit of anguish in her face.]

I wish I could say. While the may not work together, they definitely want to work with us. We told the Mayor and Grady we would work with them against Lucy, but the Mayor insisted what's being done to us is for our own good. And Grady, he... he's just insane. Avoid him at all costs.

[A concerned look.] Is everything alright?
