[Smile, Mayfield, you're on camera!

Crowe's out and about on town with a spiffy new Canon camera that he bought with some of his savings as a paper boy. After learning that Seychelles was droned now - one of the friends he's had in Mayfield the longest, and his partner in crime in the blitzball team - and that it was looking permanent, he decided to pass on practice today to try teach himself how to use this thing. He's used to digital cameras and cell phones from 2010, not these old things. It's got a bit of a learning curve, but he thinks he's getting the hang of it. As long as he keeps his fingers out of the way of the lens, that is. He's mostly in the park, but he can be found all over town taking photos of people and places that look interesting. He'll definitely stop any of his friends and ask if he can snap a shot of you, as well as any willing volunteers. Strike a pose for him?

Later in the day, despite the on-coming cold of winter, Crowe's still hanging out at the park. His schoolbag is full of books and papers, but he's currently writing in what looks to be a journal or ledger. He often stops, looking lost in thought, or as if he's trying to remember something. He'll shake his head to clear and get back to work. Care to interrupt?]

"That doesn't make sense! How does that do... well that?"

Well... I suppose it's more like you get used to it. It's how they keep us trapped here, and it's really beyond someone like me to figure it out...

Hmm. Awhile, I guess. A lot about this town is strange, though. Looping around itself isn't even the half of it.

Oh, uh, not really. Just a hobby. I'm documenting Mayfield and the things that happen here. I've been here a long time, I feel like I should have started ages ago...

What they do goes beyond brainwashing, I think. It's... pretty scary, I won't lie.

Oh, sure. The architecture here isn't too exciting, and there's a lack of nature, so I've been looking for anyone who'll let me take a photo of them instead.

"I'll keep that in mind. And well, this is all new to me. Might be a good way to meet new people.

[Crowe smirks a little.] No one in Mayfield is normal. Trust me.

Well, I can show you around then too. The residential streets get confusing since they all look the same. It's best to just keep an eye on the street signs. Downtown as a bit more variation at least.

Thanks. I think I'll get used to the layout eventually, just the looping streets are going to drive me insane."

[He shrugs.] Who knows. We really don't know much about how this place works, honestly. And some people seem weird, they might be quite normal where they come from.

"Yeah, someone mentioned other worlds. I'm from earth and normal was easier to figure out a few years ago. Now I don't know. Being here isn't really helping."

I'm from earth too... 2010 to be exact. Honestly, as far as people in Mayfield goes, I'm as normal as they come. I don't know magic or have super powers or anything crazy like that.

"Oh, wow the future. How are the cars in 2010? I'm from 1998.

So how do you cope with, well, all of this?"

[He laughs a little.] Really? I was only born in 1996. The cars? Well not a whole lot different from 1998 I guess, except everyone's trying to sell hybrids and electrics now.

[That's a tough question. He thinks on it a moment.]

Ah, well... I keep busy, mostly. Try not to think about this crazy town and the things it does. I have a job, school, sports, combat training, and more friends here than I ever did back home... a lot of people say they're bored here, but I feel like I barely have time to rest. I... I think I prefer it that way, though.

Combat training? Is that normal for around here?"

Ah, well... to tell the truth, a lot of bad things happen around here. And that whole lack of magical powers thing I mentioned? Since I do, I try to make up for it in other ways. I... I don't know if it does me much good, but I don't plan on giving up.

Do they have like a Karate class? I'm not much of a fighter either, I'm used to running. But if the streets loop I don't think I am getting far."

Not really, you might just have to find yourself an instructor. I just found someone to teach me taekwondo. Also, Mr. Sniper teaches shooting at the rec center, if you'd be interested in that.
