[Phone call filtered from drones:]

A lot of people have come into town recently. This is pretty odd, considering they usually trickle in instead of coming in so close together... it makes me wonder what are captors are up to.

At any rate, ah, to all the new people out there? My name is Crowe, and if you need any help, let me know. I've been here a long time now, so I can fill you in on any details if you like. There's also a pamphlet available if you haven't seen it. I know some others have been handing them out, and I've been leaving them in mailboxes as well. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. It's fair that everyone who comes into this town knows what they've been brought into. Valentine's Day is coming up next month, and ah, things tend to get a bit ugly around holidays here. Don't trust anything the town just drops off in your house overnight, alright?

Ah, Mr. Holmes? I've finished up that copy of the journal I was talking about. If you want, I can just leave it in your mailbox as well. Whatever is convenient for you.

Ah. Um. I-I was wondering if you'd like to do something this weekend. It's my birthday this weekend, you see, and... well I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but it would be nice to, um, maybe do dinner or the movies or something?

[Action! Crowe will be found at the park today, despite the snow and cold, as he hates being inside so much. He'll be out today practicing the tae kwon do he's been learning from Taiwan in a clearing he's made in the snow. He's still new at it, but he's in good shape and a dedicated student, so he's doing pretty well. Care to interrupt/say hi/challenge?]

Usually, but not always. But something as popular as Valentine's Day is definitely one they won't pass up.

I see.

[So there is a pattern to the way the people that ran this place moved. Or at least a vague form of one. So that was something to consider in trying to find some way to fight back if these were the new opponents he was to go to war with.]

Could you tell me, perhaps, how long this has been going on?

[identity profile] perfektsymmetry.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Mayfield itself? I don't know, really. I've been here for nearly 11 months, so as long as I've been here, it's happened this way.

[identity profile] sturmbahnfurher.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm.

Do they have any preferred tactics in how they act? What do they seem to be striving for, mainly? Installing fear, or do they go more for flat out propaganda?

I heard they took to burning houses, at one point, so I'd assume they move towards fear more then anything else.

[And he says that way too casually. He almost sounds fond of the idea.]

Ah, well, trying to reinforce how "perfect" the town is, you know? But at the same time, it pretty much boils down to torturing and scaring us. There's several people working behind the scenes here - Lucy Smith, the Mayor, Grady, the Milkman, the Postman... and they're not all on the same side.

Um. They did do that a few weeks ago, yes.

[identity profile] sturmbahnfurher.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[So an attempt to break the peoples wills then. Usually, those kind of tactics would be incredibly efficient, but from what he can tell from everyone he's spoken to, no one seems to really be breaking. Either they're doing a poor job of it, or his fellow citizens are incredibly resilient.]

I assume all of the damage to have been repaired by now, correct? From what I've read in the pamphlet, all damage, and even death, seems to be repaired the next day.

[identity profile] perfektsymmetry.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. It's not always immediate, but, usually within a day or two, yes.

[identity profile] sturmbahnfurher.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[You can practically hear the smile in his voice. The Major isn't particularly afraid of death, but to have a place where a war could be had, to die and live and die again. Well, it was practically like a miniature Valhalla, isn't it?]

Thank you for the confirmation on it.

Has no one tried to actively fight our captors? Have they really kept everything so tight that opposition has proven impossible?

[identity profile] perfektsymmetry.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It's hard to focus, I guess. People come and go too often, and then we get interrupted by their torture. Plus it's hard to fight against someone like the Mayor or Grady. I-I've seen what he can do first-hand, more than once. They have a lot of power.

[identity profile] perfektsymmetry.livejournal.com 2011-01-22 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Um, well, Grady can teleport, take away anything you might be using as a weapon and drone you in a matter of seconds, without even moving.

If he is, he's a very powerful one.
