[It's been obvious lately, since after Christmas, that Crowe hadn't been feeling like himself. He's been depressed ever since, doing his best to not show it. But today, Mayfield has decided to cheer him up, it seems. Suddenly there's another Christmas tree in his house this morning. And under that tree is a 2009 Ducati 1198 Superbike. He stares at it for a long time, rereading the note, looking it over... Santa? No. He *knows* this is from home. His birthday present from his dad. This was what he was promised for when he turned 17, and it's shown up here!

Crowe pushes it outside, pops on the helmet that was included, and rides off! There's going to be some problems though. Crowe was still learning how to ride back home, which was over 10 months ago now. So not only is he a newbie on a very fast bike, he's rusty. Better look out because he's coming your way! He'll be making awkward starts and stops, shaking and stalling out... but he manages to stay upright at least. But no one noticed him knocking himself into that mailbox, did they...? It doesn't seem to bother him though, as anyone who listens can hear him laughing. Feel free to stop him - maybe he's taking a breather, or maybe he almost ran you over. Oops. He'll be sorry, really. He'll also be stopping by his friends' houses to show off, and making an extra special stop at 1489 Kramden Road to pick up a certain special someone.]

[Phone:]

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not voting. I've torn my ballot up and thrown it away. Enough of this nonsense, yeah? I'm tired of them taking us for fools all the time.

Um. Anyway. Happy new year, everyone. January already... I suppose that means I'll be turning 17 soon.

[Sure, Crowe doesn't trust the ballots and their intent, for obvious reasons. But he's got another problem on his hands - he actually doesn't know what to vote for. He hates Mayfield, but so many of the people here meant a lot to him. He rally isn't sure what he wants to do. So how's he going to deal with this problem? By ignoring it completely! What a great idea.]

[Action:

Today Crowe will be found on his lawn, building a snow fort! It's getting very large and complicated, taking up most of the lawn, and he's building different rooms in it. He's not sure where he's going with it, but keeping him occupied. He's even started taking snow from the other yards on Williams Road to keep this thing going. Care to investigate/help/harass?

Later, in the evening, he'll be sitting inside it, all huddled up in some warm clothes and blankets. He has a lantern and he's reading a book. He built this fort, and now he might as well use it.]

[Action: Some time in the late morning, Crowe wanders out of his room. He's looking to make sure Hol and Ash are alright. If Mukuro ran into the hazmats... well, he could handle himself.]

---

[Phone: Crowe's voice is quiet.]

Everyone. You're... you're not even safe in your homes, alright? The hazmats.... They came in to ours. I didn't touch them and they killed me anyway. Lock up your houses, and if they come in, just get out of their way. Don't confront them or they'll just turn on you. Just stay out of the way. Get to your basement or something.

...

I-Is everyone alright? They didn't... hurt anyone else, did they?

[Despite the continual dronings going on amongst his friends and allies, Crowe's doing his best to stay chipper. It's... really really tough. He was feeling pretty lonely coming to school and seeing the blank face of a drone on so many of his friends and classmates lately. Maybe some would come back, but he had a hard time staying optimistic. A-and it would be selfish for him to want them here when they've gone home now, right...?

Well, he was glad the dance went off without a hitch at least, pleasantly drone-free, and even if he really didn't get a chance to dance with anyone, he still had a good time. Moreover, was glad that *others* had a good time and a chance to relax.

But, there was a lot going on recently that overshadowed everything else. He was beating himself up for not going to the Smith's party. Threat of grievous injury aside, how could he miss such an opportunity to investigate? And then that phonecall from the Mayor....]

[Standard drone/Grady/Mayor/Smiths filter]

I heard about some of the things that happened at the Smiths' house... I hope everyone is feeling better. And that we managed to get some info from it. Anything gets us one step closer to getting to the bottom of this.

So... who or what "escaped", do you think? I can't... it's hard to think someone would have made it out of here without more of us knowing...

Oh, before I forget. This weekend we're having a blitzball game at the rec center. If anyone is interested in checking out our very first game, please do! We'd love to have some fans in the stands. And if anyone on the team wants to get some extra practice in, just let me know. I'd be glad to help.

[A pause.]

Ah. D-does anyone want to just... hang out in the park after school today? Or... hit up the diner or something? Just... whatever.

[This is Captain Awkward's way of saying he desperately needs some chill-out time. For serious. Such a bundle of nerves.]

[The phone fumbles a bit, and Crowe gives a tiny sigh before he speaks.]

I, uh... I-I... I don't know what happened with me this week but... to anyone I uh, may have offended, I deeply apologize. I wasn't myself. I-I mean that literally, I think. I don't know what happened but I hope you'll all forgive me. I-It was like I was possessed or something...

Wilhelm, Seychelles, Aisling, Margot, I-Iceland... ah, th-there was even some people I didn't even know. The blonde girl from the rec center, I know you were just trying to be nice. You all were. I'm very sorry. I understand if none of you wish to speak with me from now on, but I hope you can accept my apologies.

I... I'm just glad that I apparently decided to take out the aggression on myself, and not anyone else. [He looks down at his bandaged hand. They were both really busted up. He'd have to wait till they healed until he was going to help with all those breaking-and-entering plans he had.

There's a pause, one might have thought he had hung up or walked away, but then:]

A-and Ren. I... can't thank you enough. I-I owe you.

[Crowe will be scarce for a day or two, getting some much needed rest. He was exhausted physically and mentally, and his hands needed time to heal up. He still didn't like sticking at home too long, and he still had a paper route, so he'll be out and about at some point. And no matter what, he knew he still had to show up for combat practice. Have an utterly drained and not very with it Crowe to deal with, Jecht.]

[Since he got to Mayfield, Crowe had barely stayed in his home. He always managed to find a way to keep busy so that he could stay out of that creepy house, with its drone for a mother and professional killer for a father, as often as possible.

But for the last few days, he's barely left his room. He skipped school and practice, and his paper route - always delivered with a smile and on time every day for the last three months - has gone ignored. The only time he leaves is late at night, for his town watch duties, but he ended up just sitting somewhere, unsure of what to do. He stays out of the park, his usual hang out, to avoid the gruesome reminders that his friends were still trapped in Westport. That he failed to do anything to bring those people home; that they were still over there suffering through God knows what.

When he returns home at sunrise today, he goes to his room, but the phone keeps ringing. And ringing. And ringing. Wait, could that mean --- okay, something obviously happened. Maybe… maybe the rest have finally…

Picking up the phone, Crowe is treated to one of the many familiar voices of Mayfield screaming and sobbing in utter agony and grief. Startled, he hangs up the phone without thinking, and stares at it, scared.

For a few moments he stands there, a million thoughts going through his head. He tried so hard to do whatever he could to bring those people home safely, to do anything to help, to be any use at ALL, but nothing worked. Everyone just came back to Mayfield a broken mess, and he could do nothing about it.

Nothing.

He walks back upstairs to his room, and quietly closes the door.]

[Call/message filtered from Margot (Crowe feels she's upset enough already) to all non-drones. No one Crowe knows had been droned until now and he's having a hard time dealing with it.]

Does... does the town often drone people for no reason? This is... this is... I don't even know. How can this happen? Nadia was one of the nicest people in town, she... she never bothered anyone, never hurt anyone...it's not fair... what if she doesn't...

I-I mean is that it then? Even if we DO get along with this town and its rules, we might just droned anyway?! For no reason whatsoever? Am I just supposed to sit around and wait for them to brainwash the rest of us permanently too? I don't get it! What do they want from us?! What are we supposed to do?

[There's a pause as he sighs and rubs his forehead.]

...I-I'm sorry it's just... why couldn't they have done it to someone else...

[The phone is hung up.]

[Someone's been spreading himself a bit too thin in an effort to keep himself distracted about being held prisoner in Mayfield. Crowe's schedule has been busy - training with Constable Crane starting before dawn, then his paper route, then school, followed by blitzball practice, homework, and time at the park to play some soccer or read, and then to bed pretty late at night. He's barely been in his house, as being there made him uncomfortable. He wasn't sleeping or eating much, and was starting to feel exhausted. He'll still be the utmost pleasant to anyone he talks to, with smiles all around, but some might not help but notice the weariness underneath. Most notably, the teacher's pet here has been nodding off in class. And now he has to attend Sniper's camping trip, since he doesn't trust him to not do anything dangerous with the kids in town....]

U-um, hi everyone, sorry that I haven't gotten anything official together regarding the football club. Soccer club. Whichever. My schedule's just been, um, fuller than expected. Who knew being held prisoner would keep you so busy? [He chuckles nervously.] A-anyway. I hope to have more news on it soon. It seems like there's a lot of folks interested, which is great to hear!

Also, uh, did anyone get calls from outside of town? I talked to two gentleman not from Mayfield, I was wondering if it was just me, or if it was some kind of prank... it almost seemed too good to be true, right? It was April Fool's Day, after all...
