[ACTION: Are you new in town? Wandering around looking lost? Staring and gawking at the drones and identical houses with a growing look of dread across your face?

If so, a tall teenager will shyly approach you. He's carrying a newspaper bag, but instead of the daily news, there are pamphlets poking out. He has a quiet voice and a light Irish accent.]

Ah, um, excuse me. Couldn't help but notice that you, um, seem to be feeling your out of place. I can explain, if you's like.

--

[PHONE:]

Um.

N-No one's seriously considering the position of police chief, right? It's so suspicious... what if you get droned into the role, like Grad-- er, Evan Olney probably was?

[Crowe pulled out the phone from the wall to keep him from spilling his secrets like the rest of the town. He was *full* of them, and he doesn't want them getting out, thanks.

And yet, he wanted to tell someone. He needed to talk to someone. So many people have told him he keeps things too bottled up, that he should talk about his problems...

No! He can't. He just can't. Something weird was going on. Hol got on the phone and told everyone he was a communist. It didn't make sense.

Housemates will find Crowe pacing about his room, a familiar worried expression on his face. He'll get stir-crazy after a bit, and head outside. But instead if usual warm greetings, Crowe will be trying to avoid everyone. Of curse, that won't stop people from trying to approach him, and he's too polite to turn anyone away harshly...

For the rest of the day, he'll be hiding high up in a tree at the park. And there he will stay for as long as he can.]

[Did you ever notice that the more you try to avoid something, the more it continues to show up in your face? That's the problem Crowe is having with the prom.

He's not really been in a socializing mood, not to mention he knows he'll never find a date. A lot of his friends already seemed paired off, even though the event was announced just this week. So naturally, because he doesn't want to go, it seems to be haunting him wherever he goes. You'll find him:

A) Politely trying to turn down a nerdy drone girl's offer of a date. Crowe is one of the few people in town who actually feels bad for drones, but there's no explaining to them that drones aren't allowed in to this event. Or that you'd rather not go with an brainwashed automaton. Or a girl. But that's beyond the point, really. While being gentle about it, the girl eventually starts to cry at the rejection before running off. Crowe looks beyond exasperated.

---

B) In the halls between classes, being followed by a recently-redroned BFF, who pleasantly chatters away, while Crowe looks like he'd rather be dumped in boiling oil.]

I think I'm going to ask Suzy to go! Boy, it'll sure be swell. I hope she says yes!

Yeah. Good luck.

What about you, Calleo? Have you asked anyone yet? What about Jeanie? I hear she likes you!

Maybe.

You better hurry up, before someone else asks her!

Okay.

[Someone, please rescue him.]

---

C) A drone art teacher has approached him now, asking if he'd like to be the official photographer for the dance. Never mind that Crowe doesn't want to go, or that drones aren't welcome to this particular festivity. The teacher prattles on about how Crowe has been improving a lot these last few months and that he knows what a good job he'd do. Crowe looks a bit confused, but mostly unimpressed. But maybe if his friends are going to insist on dragging him to the actual non-drone prom, then photography would be a good way to keep his mind off of being a dateless wonder.

You might find him practicing with his camera around school later, since he hasn't used it in a few weeks. He'll be snapping some candid shots. Smile for the camera?]

[Desipte his attitude the last week, Crowe seems to be coming around to himself again this week. He's less quiet or short with people, and is back to trying to help people once again. After all, with his detective days behind him, he needs something else to distract himself with. Recently, it seemed that time again in town where a lot of new people came trickling in. While part of his still didn't want to bother with most people, it wasn't *their* fault they were now here. Once upon a time, he was just as lost and confused as they were. Might as well help the newbies get acclimated. And maybe he feels just slightly guilty for last week's pickpocket adventures, and wishes to make up for it.

Crowe's been around long enough to easily recognize the new faces. So during school this week, anyone he spots looking new will be slipped pamphlet in their desk, their locker, or their bag when they're not looking. You probably won't catch him doing it - he's really good at this sort of thing. There's a small note paperclipped to each one as well:

"I'm afraid to say all the information in here is correct. It's a lot to take in. I will be waiting outside the school gates after classes are done if you have any questions. My name is Crowe."

Even without leaving a description, he's hard to miss - a tall, broad teenager with silver and blue hair waits patiently, holding one of the pamphlets, to see if anyone comes by.]

Over the week/introspection/angry teenager inside here )

[Crowe's up to a lot the next few days. You'll find him:

A) Skipping classes and curiously lingering in the lunch rooms and hallways of Mayfield High. He hasn't practiced pickpocketing in ages, and wants to get back into the habit. Although rusty, he's good at it. He'll be aiming for drones, students and teachers alike, but outright avoiding friends. He won't be going for anything too big, just watches, wallets, easily accessed jewelry, things like that. Of course, with all the new people incoming recently, he might not realize you're a drone, and today you might be missing something from your pocket or schoolbag.

After classes, he'll be out on a parkbench sorting through what he has, mostly looking uninterested in it... unless he happened to find something valuable or different. He's making no effort to hide this, either. Feel free to approach.

B) At the rec center, giving the boxing equipement one hell of a beating. Thanks to constant practice, he's actually getting pretty good, but he looks pretty exhausted. He uses a strange combination of tawkwondo moves and out and out vicious street brawling. Sparring partners, anyone?

C) Sitting up in a tree in the park, reading a novel. A white tomcat lounges with him. The trees are only budding, so he can be seen easily up there. Now that the weather's warming up again, this is where he spends any free time he manages to find. Occasionally he stops to look at and fiddle with a small metal pendant on a chain he's using as a bookmark. Strange for someone so young to look nostalgic, but that's the only way to describe the look he's giving it.

There's always a lot of new people in town, or people who might just... miss some things that goes on here, so let me make it very clear:

Don't trust the hotel, don't trust the summer camp, and don't trust whatever kind of party the drones plan on hosting. Like everything else here, I'm sure it's a trap. Just like Westport, just like the post office. And if you're not familiar with those instances, plenty of people here can fill you in on the gory details.

So please... stay away. Please. Do yourself and everyone else a favor and don't go.

You really just... can't trust this place at all.

[Today in the park, Crowe can be seeing leaping about trees! Well, sort of. He's climbing up and down them as fast as he can, timing himself as he does so with a stopwatch. He's pretty fluid, and after a few runs in one tree, he has it down to a matter of seconds. Once he accomplishes that, he moves on to the next one, doing the same. He looks exhausted, but pleased once he checks his times. He's breaking his old records.

Later, he'll be found practicing a tightrope walk. He's just using a regular rope tied between two trees for now, only a few feet off the ground. He does alright but he's new at this, and falls off a lot. Most of the time he manages to land on his feet, but he does slip on occasion. But he'll get back up and try, try again. Practice makes perfect.

Crowe's been a bit closed off from everyone lately, thanks to basically living at the park. And after the droning of three of his friends in a short amount of time - the hardest on him being Massimo's - he wonders if he should have listened to Ichobod's advice from many months back about not making too many friends here. It didn't make things any easier when this happened.

Of course, this doesn't mean he isn't free for talking/ridicule/question what the hell he's up to since he's in a public park.]
