He tries, folks. He really does. After hearing that Kay actually did find him a match for the prom - though no doubt only by process of elimination - he was pretty surprised. Even so, Crowe stares at the phone for a long time, paces around the living room a bit, stares at the phone some more before picking it up and placing a call.

A-Ah. Hi. Um, you don't know me, but, my name's Crowe, a-and ah, Kay matched us up...? So I wanted to give you a call. If that's okay.

Oh, right! Haha, I was just about to call, actually. Nice to meet you, Crowe! [A pause.] Well, as much as you can meet someone over these, ha-ha!

[Nervous is practically Crowe's middle name. But, this guy sounds cheerful enough, so that's good.]

Ha, you too. Well, ah, since we were matched up, I mean, you're okay with it, right? Why don't we, um, meet for lunch o-or something?

Huh? Why wouldn't I be okay with it? [Another laugh, just about as obnoxious as the last.] Lunch sounds good, sure. Where did you want to meet?

Not too many places to go, unfortunately... How about the diner? The weather's been pretty nice too, so we could sit outside.

Yeah, true, but at least there are some! The diner... the one out on the highway? [He hasn't been there, actually... mostly because nobody was driving when he finally headed out again.]

[Crowe's got a mororcycle so he'll get there pretty fast. Flay will probably easily spot him as the young man sitting alone, nervously playing with the straw of his soda rather than drinking it.]

[It's kind of convenient, really; pretty much everyone at the diner has a date, whether just a lunch date or what... so he spots Crowe pretty quickly, taking idle note of the blue-streaked silver hair. Huh. Kind of like Vayne, that.

He's just as cheerful in person as he is on the phone - maybe even moreso - and after a moment of talking with the waitress, he's headed to the proper table, grinning broadly.]

[When Flay approaches, Crowe stands up and offers his hand for a handshake. He smiles brightly.]

Oh! Ah, hello. You must be Flay. I'm Crowe. Nice to meet you. Have a seat. Ah, I would have ordered you something, but I didn't know what you'd like…

[His grip is firm and strong, expression open and amused.]

Nice to meet you, too. [His laugh, this time, is actually more because he's usually the one leading people around. Maybe he's not as timid as he came off on the phone... either way, the broad-shouldered man does take a seat.] Ah, it wouldn't matter much. I always try something different when I go out - there are so many choices, it would be boring if I chose the same thing all the time.

[Crowe seems a bit more relaxed in person than over the phone.]

I'm usually here a lot, actually... but I'm doing better now trying to cook. I've been trying to learn. The food here's not the best sometimes, but the milkshakes are always good.

[Down to business, before nerves get him.] A-Ah, so, you're really going to the prom?

[Well, he's a lot more talkative than Vayne, that's for sure. ... At least for now.]

Huh. Not bad! I give it a shot every now and again, but I'm not very good at it. [Comes with the territory when you've never really used an oven, Flay. Not to mention the fact that he's got his alchemy back now, and that's much easier to make food with... Anyway, he orders something seemingly at complete random from the menu.

The question is met with a nod.] Yeah, why not? It seemed like fun, and maybe it's just the thing we all need after that whole mess!

W-well, for awhile there were no drones left in the house, so someone had to make dinner for everyone... I-I'm not very good at it, but, I never got too many complaints, I guess.


[He nods, thinking about it.] I suppose so... we've had some school dances before, they were pretty fun. I-I wasn't sure if I was going to this one though, but everyone's talked me into it. At the very least, I figured I'd go to take photos.

That makes sense. As long as you enjoy it, that's what matters, right? ... Granted, it's definitely easier to make stuff with alchemy.

[Take photos? That... sounds like a rather inactive position. THAT WILL NOT DO.] Aha! Well, I haven't been to one, myself - Al-Revis was more geared toward our alchemy research. [Small pause.] ... Huh. I don't really know what you do there, come to think of it. [Other, of course, than the obvious...] It's kind of too bad Nikki's not around, too. She had a lot of fans for her voice back in school.

Ah, well... mostly, you get all dressed up, dance, just hang out with everyone... oh, there'll be dinner too at this one, I think. There might be some live music as well, I think. You had a friend who's a singer, then? I have one who plays violin...

Yeah! Al-Revis is the only place you can go to be allowed to, actually. It's illegal if you don't go there first, haha. Anyway, the town just gave me my alchemy pot back following the last... whatever you want to call it. Vayne and Rorona do it, too.

... Dressed up, huh? Hmmm. Ah, well, I'll figure that out later. [He nods again, grinning.] Yeah, we got to hear her once, and pretty much the whole school came over to watch! It was pretty amazing.

Huh, violin? I've only seen a couple of players before, and that was just in the whole band, myself.

Wow... I've only read about that sort of thing in fantasy novels, really. That's pretty amazing.

Mm, yeah. I got some suits sent to me from home, so I figure I finally have an excuse to wear one. Right now it's with the tailor since I ah, I've been playing a lot of sports and stuff since I got here so they don't quite fit the same. Um, if you need help, calling the tailor might help, or I can help you check the department store or something...?

I might have to do that. I got some clothes when I came here, but they don't really fit right. Too tight in the shoulders. [That is because you expect to be able to fight in them, Flay.] I'm sure I can figure something out, though! And if not, I can always give you a call. [Laugh. Also, hey, food. 8D]

A-Ah, well, I'm not the best with clothes, but I'll be glad to help. Luckily, suits are pretty much the same anywhere. [So says the guy who'll be wearing a tailored Armani suit to this thing.]

For some reason, no food here is all that great. I never understood that. Well, at the restaurants anyway. Some people here are good cooks.
