[Norway had been droned for awhile now, and Crowe was fearing the worst. It wouldn't be the first time he'd been sent home, only to return *younger* than before. But today Crowe decided to try and confirm his suspicions. He skips school, and heads over to Norway's home, and climbs up the nearby tree to his bedroom window and sneaks in. He figures there's a better chance of the family being away at school and work in the morning, but he's confident in his skills that he's sure he'll go unnoticed.

He searches around for Norway's regains - that weird club, those strange clothes. But he finds nothing. His items have been sent home with him. What he does fine, though, is some of the things Crowe's given to him in his time here - the pocket watch, the necklace with the hand-made pendants, the calling cards from his Halloween escapades, photos. He scoops them all up into a shoe box, and vacates the house as silently as he entered.]

[Today Crowe can be found in two places:

A) If for some reason you're not at school or work early this afternoon, and hang around the closest thing Mayfield has to a foresty area, you'll come across Crowe sitting at the edge of Makeout Point, looking morose as he watches the town below. Next to him is a small box that he considered throwing over the peak in an effort to forget all the people Mayfield continues to bring into his life, only to take them away again. In the end he doesn't have the guts to do it, and sits there for a long time stewing in his own teenage angst. This is what he gets for being too attached to the people here, isn't it?

B) Later in the afternoon, Crowe returns home. All over the lawn of 1247 Williams is what looks like a makeshift obstacle course. Tires, some stolen road cones, wood shop sawhorses and various bits from his garage are placed carefully around the yard. Despite the cold weather, he's out there in his gym clothes, repeatedly running his course over and over again. Crowe's not good at many things, but being agile and fast is something he does very well. He leaps over things, over the sawhorses, hops in and out of the tires with great precision. Occasionally he trips up, cursing in Italian as he does, but for the most part does very well. He'll rearrange stuff to keep things interesting, and keeps at this project well into the night, despite looking exhausted and unhappy with his progress. Feel free to watch/question/join in, etc.!]

Yeah. I guess. I just... really shouldn't get so attached. But I've never had friends like I've had here.

Can you honestly stop yourself, though? I don't know that I could.

I just have to realize that one day they're going to be gone, and keep going.

[He's quiet a moment, and he looks at that box again. Ian was right, and now he was glad he didn't just trash this stuff.]

No. NO matter how much I try to make myself believe it, th-there's no way I could just... lock myself away, I guess.

I just... hope he's happy back home.

We're already locked away enough as it is, in this place.

That's all you can do, really.

This place is downright claustrophobic. I-I think I've just been here too long, I think. You'd think living here would get easier, but that's not the case, for me at least...

Everyone reacts differently. [ a shrug ] How long have you been here?

[He thinks a moment.] A year, now. I was here in early March, last year.

[ He lets out a low whistle ] That's long enough to start getting to anybody.

I've only been here a few months, and I'd kill for a nice, wide ocean.

I'd give anything to see the ocean again. Or some mountains. Or... anything. My family moved and traveled a lot, so staying in one place this long is just... confining.

I know how that feels. I miss my ship- and being able to just... go wherever I please.

You had a ship? That's great. Sailing is wonderful.

I certainly hope not. And I hope someday soon you get back to her.

Me too. At this point, I'll take anywhere else but Mayfield.

I'd be careful what you wish for. There are worse places.

That's true. I could just really use a change of scenery. Er, Westport doesn't count, either.

I keep hearing about this Westport. The incident involving it was well before I got here.

From: [identity profile] perfektsymmetry.livejournal.com
That's a long story. But it was a pretty scary ordeal. The whole place was torched, the people dead... I'm afraid one day it'll be Mayfield's turn.

wavewalker: (so why IS the rum gone?)

Mm. Do you suppose it was a place like Mayfield once? With people like you and me?

Date: 2011-03-06 06:29 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] perfektsymmetry.livejournal.com
Maybe. I-I'm not sure. Mayfield showed it to us on TV, everyone saw people they know there from their homes. But when the road opened and we got there, i-it was nothing but a burned-out war zone. I actually found a photo of one of my friends there... I don't know what it means. Whether he was really there or if it was someone messing with our heads.

I think Maypole may have met the same end as Westport, somehow...

When I first got here, someone said that this place is an experiment. I wouldn't doubt it, all things considered, though I have to wonder what their ultimate goal is.

From: [identity profile] perfektsymmetry.livejournal.com
That could be. I have a feeling that Westport was a failure, Maipole as well... We've already seen the hazmats here a few times. How many more times will they be brought in before it's the last time...?
