[Crowe's a pretty observant guy, it's not hard to notice everyone acting differently. His blushing, awkward schoolmates; the strangely large amount of cars, even for Valentine's Day, parked at the hotel, the restaurants and heading to Makeout Point. Was the town up to something again - maybe something like a love potions or tainted candy again? Or something like the time when they were all locked in cars and hotels at the end of the summer?

But then, how come nothing has happened to him?

Crowe will be watching the cootie infected at school carefully, and observing the rest of the town while out and about, trying to puzzle this all out. The town didn't send him false memories, and he's too old for cooties, so he's really perplexed. Feel free to approach him.

It's a relief to see that I'm not the only one who noticed this trend. I had noticed that many of the afflicted spoke of opening these boxes that appeared on the doorstep.

Strange things aren't unusual, but the fact that it hasn't affected everyone is.

Hmm, I thought I saw something in the mailbox this morning for one of my housemates... I should have known better. I've been here long enough. But it was the only one, and it wasn't for me, so I didn't think much of it.

That's not so strange either, it merely means they've come into contact or done something that we haven't.

Are packages such as these common in Mayfield? That could explain, if they are the source, why so many were willing to open them.

Could be. I suppose sometimes, when Mayfield does things like this, some people do get left out...

They are, usually when the town decides to return thing to people. Usually it's after events like this, not before. Plus, there's a lot of new people in town, who might not know to be careful.

[Is one of those newer people, but that is precisely why he didn't open his package.] No wonder. most people would be grateful to have their things returned and wouldn't have hesitated to open them.. the newer residents of the naive variety wouldn't have known to be leery.

You never know what you might get sent here. Usually it's stuff from home, but occasionally things go wrong with it. Like at Christmas. O-Or last spring, when everyone's things just went... weird.

Mayfield certainly does toy with us all the time. Frankly, I got tired of it ages ago.
